A Good Day

A nice day today, although it started off an an 'iffy' note. I had my 14 mile run today, but I totally overslept and by the time I woke up, there was no way I was going to make it to the city by 7AM.

*sigh*.

It rained really hard before I went to bed, so I wasn't so sure how the weather conditions would be up in the city where we were to run. I suppose in the back of my mind I just assumed it would be bad and subconsciously made the decision I wouldn't go, I don't know. Anyway, I will have to make it up this week somehow. There's a trail up north a bit that is about 12 miles long. I'm certainly not going to run 14 miles on a treadmill (how boring!) and I'm certainly not going to run outdoors somewhere without a running partner (not smart for a single gal!). I convinced a friend to come with me on this run sometime this week, so it's all good. They probably won't run the entire distance with me. They will probably bring their bike and just hang out on the trail while I get my run in.

This evening I attended Sat service at my church. Our pastor just started a sabbatical, so today was the first in a serious of guest speakers over the next 3 months. It's weird. I thought this guy had a good presence, but I just didn't resonate with his sermon. At the end of the evening he did the usual altar call (where he asks people to step forward to accept Christ or to step forward to renew their commitment to Christ) and, I kid you not, about half or more than half of the entire church stepped forward. It's a pretty big church - 3 services over the weekend, with about 2K in attendance PER service. Sat is a bit smaller, a few hundred or so. I like Sat service better because it seems much more "intimate". Anyway, *I* was SO not moved by this preacher's words, and it made me wonder what I was missing. Here were all these people, just feeling moved by his words, and here I was thinking this guy was a bit of a zealot. Dunno....it was just weird.

After service I went over to ECG's house and a few of us grilled and just hung out. I made my awesome garlic mashed potatoes and some Ghiradelli chocolate brownies for dessert. :-) Yum!!

A good evening tonight. :-)

I might post more in a bit. Not sure.

Ciao!
