At Last - My "Year In Review"
I have been reviewing, revising, and reviewing and revising my "year in review" for you all waaaay too many times these past two weeks while I was home.
Now that I am home-home (in the bay area) and have reviewed and revised again, I realized that what I want to say and the things I have written are just too personal to share. So here I am, wanting to say *something*, but not sure what. So I will free write a "YIR" and see what happens.
All I can say is that if I don't remember it, then it ain't worth mentioning or pondering. There were quite a few things I had forgotten about when I went through my calendar beginning with January. Many of those things were bad, many were good. I don't know why some stuck with me and are vivid memories, while others have fallen into those murky areas of my memory.
I met a lot of great people this year: Chica, Walter, SF, TT, JC and CT to name a few. I have renewed old and dear friendships, and have deepened many unexpected friendships with people I thought would remain acquaintances: MN, SD, TB, EC, KW, AM, RC and more!
Then there are those who came into my life for a reason, and in many ways unbeknownst to them regarding the impact they've made on me, on my perspective on life, and on the direction and decisions I have made. Some of whom I have just mentioned, and additional others such as QLC, LPH, "Blackie", GS, RA, G, A, and some other people and fellow bloggers that I follow when I get a chance.
The end of this year I kept finding myself coming back to the fact that there are no "real" coincidences in life. Everything happens for a reason. The older I get, the more firm in that belief I get.
This year alone I had quite a few of these "divine" circumstances where only through perfect cosmic conditions could certain things have happened.
- Running into MN in D.C., which I blogged about.
- Circumstances surrounding my half marathon training, meeting MF, Florida, and Friendster.
- One random evening when attending a networking function with TT. Running into Wil, Angela, her sister, Ter's co-worker, Doug, Ken.
- My desire to travel internationally and how I had literally given up hope on doing so, but through more "random" circumstances it transpired.
There are more such circumstances, but I'll limit the mentions to those. :-)
In many ways I think this year has taught me that God is clearly present and at work in my life. I know in the deepest areas of my being that I'm on the right path, even though there are many, many times I get all confused and upset about circumstances and at life in general. I've grown leaps and bounds in my faith this year. Who knew that a rational, pragmatic cynic like me would come to know such hope and trust in the Lord? I know there's more trust and knowledge of Him that's to come in 2006, and I look forward to every step of the journey.
Many, many, many blessings to you and your family, friends, and loved ones! AND, more importantly, many, many blessings to those whose lives have intersected yours at some point and who have impacted your journey for the better. Take a moment this new year's eve to give thanks for all those ordinary miracles, and to give thanks for that person, that 'moment', that time in your life that helped mold you into the person that you're becoming, and that led you to the perfect place that you're at now.
Happy New Year's!
Love ya,
The Rambling Muse
